The story will take place from the moment the couple gets married at the temple, with the blessings of Indra and Tulasi.

For the readers who didn't read Book 1 of the Deshpande series, I'll give you a summary.

Vardhan was the ex-husband of Sugandha, he was an evil human with lots of money. 4½ years ago, he r*pes sugandha under the influence of heavy alcohol and other substances. 

Sugandha and her parents seek justice in front of Indra, the main sarpanch and the older brother of Rudra.

Unfortunately, Sugandha's parents get bribed with money. Instead of seeking the real justice, they beg the sarpanch to get their daughter married to that monster.

No matter how much Sugandha wanted to refuse, she ultimately chose to satisfy her parents'wishes. She knows that if she denies it, then that man will wipe out her whole family.

After getting married to that monster, she suffered for 4½ years straight. Vardhan hated Sugandha to the core, he hated being in the same room with Sugandha because she belonged to a poor low-caste family, and... For her brown skin.

• A few months before the marriage ~

One day, Vardhan got blinded by revenge and decided to r*pe Tulasi, the wife of Indra. When Indra and Rudra weren't home, he shot his chance and tried to ruin Tulasi. But by God's grace, someone saves her.

When the brother-pair got to know about this, they killed the Vardhan. After the death of vardhan, the spikey chains of Sugandha finally broke.

She was set free, but now the society was after her since she was a young widow.

Indra swore that he'd not repeat his mistakes and he wanted Sugandha to finally live peacefully. He decides to get Rudra and Sugandha married, only if Rudra agrees.

Rudra never denies the orders and wishes of his brother, so he complies.

But He wasn't happy with the decision, he didn't deny it because he wanted to give Sugandha a happy and safe environment, and he thought that he'd never find the one that he was searching for.....
